The Press at Deerbrook

A circa 19th century cast iron Washington style by R. Hoe & Company.

Robert Hoe & Co. built many iron presses..           The press bed out with the tympan and frisket up.         View of the bar and toggle mechanism.

Originally I was told by Steven Saxe, many refer to him as an authority on Hoe history, that this press was probably made around 1877, judging from the number. I have reason to believe that it may be as late a model as 1902. Given the way Hoe made changes to his presses and the lack of evidence that can confirm any dates with numbers, I am going to say it was probably made during this 25 year period.
